Maintenance

The annual visit that protects your warranty, your bill and your equipment. Maintenance plans are available, depending on the equipment covered.

What happens to equipment nobody maintains

It does not fail overnight. It degrades slowly, and the bill climbs before anything breaks.

A dirty coil makes the system run longer for the same result. A clogged filter chokes airflow and overheats the blower. A refrigerant charge that has drifted low makes the compressor run continuously — until it gives out, on a hot evening, in the middle of an emergency service call.

As the company’s own site put it years ago: the best furnace in the world will not satisfy you if it is not maintained, checked and cleaned regularly. That has not stopped being true.

What a maintenance visit covers

  • Filter cleaned or replaced, and airflow restriction checked.
  • Evaporator and condenser coils cleaned.
  • Refrigerant pressures verified and leaks checked for.
  • Compressor and motor amp draws measured.
  • Electrical connections inspected and tightened as needed.
  • Condensate drain checked — it overflows silently once it blocks.
  • On combustion equipment: combustion analysis, heat exchanger inspection and carbon monoxide testing.
  • Thermostat and operating sequence verified.

The technician leaves you a written report of what was measured, and flags anything approaching the end of its life before it becomes an emergency.

Our maintenance plans

We offer maintenance plans, and what they cover depends on the equipment: the type of unit, its age and its configuration all determine what applies.

Rather than publish a package that would not match your installation, we would rather talk it through. Call us at 514 626-3913 and the service department will explain what suits your system.

Our after-sales service

Installation customers are contacted about a year after the work to start regular maintenance. That is not a formality — it is why some of our customers are on their second or third system with us.

Frequently asked questions

How often is maintenance needed?

Once a year for heating-only equipment. For a heat pump, which works year-round, most manufacturers recommend two visits — one before the heating season and one before the cooling season.

What maintenance plans do you offer?

We do offer maintenance plans, and what they include varies with the equipment covered. Because coverage depends on the type of unit, its age and its configuration, we work out the details with you. Call us at 514 626-3913 and we will explain what applies to your installation.

Is maintenance really required for the warranty?

Yes. Most manufacturer warranties require documented annual maintenance. When a claim comes in on a major part — a compressor, a heat exchanger — no maintenance record is a common reason for refusal.

Can I do the maintenance myself?

You can and should change the filter, keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and snow, and leave the registers unobstructed. The rest — refrigerant pressures, amp draws, combustion analysis, heat exchanger condition — takes instruments and a licence.
