Repair and 24 h emergency

No heat in January, air conditioning dead in a heat wave — our emergency service is reachable 24 hours a day at 514 626-3913.

If you have no heat right now

Call 514 626-3913. Emergency service is available 24 hours a day.

While you wait, three checks are worth doing and resolve a fair share of calls:

  1. The breaker. Check the electrical panel, and also the switch near the furnace — it looks like a light switch and gets flipped by accident all the time.
  2. The thermostat. Heating mode selected, setpoint above room temperature, and fresh batteries if the model uses them.
  3. The filter. A completely blocked filter can trip the high-limit safety and shut the unit down.

If all of that checks out, it needs a technician. Do not open up the equipment yourself.

In deep cold, protect the plumbing

If the heat is off and it is very cold outside, run a thin trickle of cold water at the farthest tap and open the cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls. A frozen pipe turns a heating failure into water damage.

Repair or replace: where we stand

We have no interest in selling you equipment you do not need, nor in repairing something that will fail again in six weeks.

The reasoning we apply:

  • Under 10 years, minor part: repair it, no hesitation.
  • Over 15 years, major part — compressor, heat exchanger, blower motor: replacement is nearly always the better call, especially given how much efficiency has improved in fifteen years.
  • In between: it depends on the unit’s history. A second major failure inside two years tells you what is coming.

We give you the repair price, the replacement price, and what we would do in your position.

A word about heat waves

In a heat wave, everybody calls on the same day. That is the reality of the trade and we will not pretend otherwise. Winter heating failures and situations involving vulnerable people go first.

It is also the strongest argument for preventive maintenance — equipment checked in spring does not fail on the first 33 °C afternoon.

Frequently asked questions

Do you come out at night and on weekends?

Yes. Our emergency service for heating failures is reachable 24 hours a day at 514 626-3913.

Repair or replace?

The usual rule - if the repair costs more than half the price of new equipment, or the unit is over 15 years old and a major part has failed, replacing is generally the better investment. We give you both numbers and our opinion. The choice is yours.

Do you service other brands?

We specialise in Lennox residential equipment, but our service department routinely maintains other brands. Call with the make and model and we will tell you straight whether we can help.

What does a service call cost?

It depends on when you call and what is wrong. The dispatcher tells you the call-out charge before sending a technician - no surprises at the door.
